Matthew is a Webelos (4th & 5th graders) Cub Scout this year. The activity badges are more in depth than rank advancement work from previous work. He recently worked on his Engineer Activity Badge at camp and enjoyed it so much that he has been building items at home also.
The requirements were two required ones and then to choose four out of eight other choices. The ones he did were (in my shortened version):
1. Talk to an engineer about the different occupations in engineering.
2. Draw a floor plan of your home.
3. Tell about how electricity is generated and then gets to your home.
4. Construct a simple working electrical circuit using a flashlight battery, a switch, and a light.
5. Make a simple crane using a block and tackle.
6. Build a catapult.
After he came home from camp Matt and Alex built a marshmallow catapult and have had a great time since improving upon it and seeing what else they would catapult and how far items will go! Pictures for your viewing pleasure!
