Blog Share – March 16

Posted By on March 15, 2010

This week I have large families on my mind. We have 6 children, our oldest has moved out now, but even with “just” five children, most people consider us to be a large family. But when you have 6 children, you tend to know others families that are even bigger than your own, and thus, we’re not a large family anymore. In our eyes. Well. I guess we could be called a large family and they’d be called a mega family?? But then 9 children seems small compared to 15!

Anyway, I love reading about how large families do things. Some of their organization tips work for me! Here are a few I love:

Jeanne has 7 children, including twins, with the oldest at college. She homeschools, teaches language classes, and loves to read. I love reading her blog. I love reading about what she’s reading, what languages she is teaching her children. She is also in the midst of writing her own book. Check her out. You won’t be sorry!

I also love following Amy Kate at Five Jewels. She has 5 girls and posts lots of pictures of them! In between though she has wonderful posts sharing what they’re making to eat, as well as very detailed meal plans. Her posts about what they’re learning or planning to learn in their homeschool are wonderful. Trying to pick just one to share is hard! Just take a look at her categories and choose one. Their family uses Tapestry of Grace so you’ll find many posts about that.

And the last one I’ll feature for today is Carla. Carla also has 6 children, similar in ages to my children. She writes posts that challenge me. Like this one about Christianity being an action and this one about patience. In between those she shares what they are doing in their homeschool, like keeping track of the Olympics! When you have time, check out her older posts. I think they will challenge you – like this one on Defining Biblical Womanhood.

So what about you? What blogs are you reading this week?

I was just reading Jeanne’s blog last night. She’s so inspiring to me!

  2. Jeanne says:

Thanks, Melissa and Carla! I love reading about living on a military base, since I’ve never experienced anything like it. And I agree, Carla really makes you think about what being a Christian means in your everyday actions!

  3. Amy Kate says:

Thank you for your kind words, Melissa. You’re a great friend!

I’m also giggling over being put in the large family bracket – by you, of all people!
